Linda Harcharic entered the world of background acting as a second career at mid-life.

 

After graduating from Marshall University, she worked  as a social worker and an aerobics dance instructor until her husband‘s career brought their family from Atlanta to the Los Angeles area in 1985.

 

A love of movies from a young age led her to the film industry, where her first job was as a Background Actor on a non-union film. Upon seeing the inequities in working conditions, she pursued union membership, and has been a member of SEG, AFTRA, SAG (now SAG-AFTRA) since 1988, working as a Background Actor, a Stand-In, and a Photo Double.

 

Recognizing the need for more respect, higher pay, and better working conditions for Background Actors, she attempted to make a difference by serving on the Los Angeles Local Board and on Local and National committees, where she could advocate for Background Actors.

 

She is grateful for the achievements that have been made through her participation in the following areas: The first Background Actors Digest covering all the contracts worked by Background Actors; coverage of 10 Background Actors under the Music Video Contract; Background Actor representation on negotiating committees for all contracts they work, and helping educate Background Actors on their contracts through the Union BG Actors’ Facebook page from 2013 – present.
